The Flood of epic proportions!

Ok, so maybe it wasn't THAT bad, but at three in the morning when the sound of water pouring into your bedroom wakes you up, if feels pretty epic.

The night before last, it had been snowing most of the day and had turned to rain around 10:30. Around 3 am, I woke up to the sound of water and at first, I thought it was Ace having an accident. I sat up to get mad at him and take him out. Then I realized that: 1-Ace is a ninja pee-er, you can't hear him and he usually hides in a corner when he does it, and 2-Ace was outside for the night. Almost instantly, I knew what it was. I jumped out of bed and my feet hit ice water. I turned on the lamp which woke Bryant up and there it was, a wall of water coming out of the window. And when I say a wall of water, I don't mean a little trickle, I mean a WALL. I grabbed my phone and called my dad and Bryant grabbed some towels and started blocking up the window. We raised the blinds and it looked like a fish tank in the window well. Water and ice were halfway up the window. Bryant then ran outside where he and my dad used a bucket to bail out the window well.

Thankfully, we have tile in our room and nothing was damaged and it was pretty contained to just under the window, we must have heard the water just as it was starting to come out of the window. I had to wash all the towels right then because we used all of them up and would need them for showers the next day. We both thought it was pretty funny and it didn't take that long to clean up. The first thing Bryant said to me after it was all over was, "well, at least this will be make a good story on your blog".

We think what happened was that the rain-gutter re-directed the water to the left side of the lawn, which slopes down and where our window is, and combined with melting snow, it just filled up fast and when it got too high, the window just couldn't hold it anymore and began to leak. It filled up a bit again the next morning and Bryant had to go out and bail it out again, but since then all the water has dried up and we have not had any problems with it since.

Maybe not a flood of epic proportions, but it was definitely and adventure for us!

Hey Griswold, where are you going to put that tree?

I did it! I convinced Bryant to take me to the festival of trees this year! I had been only once when I was still in High School, my dance team performed there and I have always wanted to go back. It was for a good cause too. Everything at the festival is donated and 100% of the proceeds goes to benefit Primary Children's Hospital. So Wednesday afternoon, Bryant picked me up from school and we drove up to the southtown expo center.

This was a coke tree, taken with my grandma Peacock in mind, and the one on the right was actually my favorite tree, it was welded by a middle school's metals class.

A peacock tree (There were actually about 3 or 4 Peacock trees we found, and I just had to take a picture...)

Superhero tree!

Star wars

The Grinch! This one reminded me
of my brother Colter because he
Loves this movie and always quotes it.

Nightmare before Christmas

There were a lot more trees and I took a lot more pictures but for some reason its not letting me post them on here, so i'll probaby put the rest on my facebook withing the next few days.

In other news, I went to the ward relief society Christmas party last night. I have not really felt like a part of the Relief
Society because the first Sunday we moved here, we were
thrown into Primary so I have not been to relief society once in the last 6 months. I hung out with my mom and her friend Deanna Ostergaard the whole time, and it kind of bummed me out that very few people knew or remembered who I was. I had a lot of people say they didn't even know I was back. Bryant And I have briefly discussed finding a BYU ward or something to go to. We just don't have any married friends here and we don't really feel a part of this ward, especially since we have not even seen the bishop once, and the primary president thought we have only been here for a month. Oh well, we like our calling a lot, we love the kids, we just wish we had the opportunity to be more involved and included.

In happier news, only 21 days untill Christmas!!!
